Welcome to Marblehead

Marblehead is a small coastal town about 17 miles north of Boston with a population of about 20,000. It was settled in 1629 and was named Marblehead by settlers who mistook its granite ledges for marble. It earned a reputation in the 1600s as one of the greatest fishing towns in New England because of its abundance of cod.

Many homes in Marblehead have sculptures known as the "golden cod" above their front doors, as an ode to the town's historical connection to the fishing industry. And blessed with three harbors, Marblehead has also been dubbed as the "Yachting Capital of the World".
